An evening of New Zealand wines at The Burlington Crows Nest

By The Dozen are extremely excited about the venue for their November wine dinner, The Burlington in Crows Nest. The wine region focus of the evening will be New Zealand. The Kiwis have made a huge impact on the Australian wine scene over the last ten years. New Zealand wines now represent more than half of all wines imported into Australia by volume and value. Most of this is white wine and most of it Sauvignon Blanc. Australians can’t seem to get enough of it!

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is not the whole story though. The quality of New Zealand’s Pinot Noir is staggeringly good with different styles coming from the various regions, Central Otago the emerging star. New Zealand Chardonnays are just as diverse with those from Gisborne probably best known. New Zealand is also becoming known for its aromatic whites, like Pinot Gris, Gewurtztraminer and Riesling.

You will sample a total of ten different wines across a broad range of varieties; Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, a full flight of Pinot Noir and one of Cabernet Merlot all matched with The Burlington’s superb cuisine.
